Yegor Kuzmich Ligachev, a member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee from 1985 to 1990, was one of those who began perestroika, and the first of the highest Soviet leaders to see the perniciousness of M. Gorbachev's course for the USSR. Ligachev strongly opposed the policy of the collapse of a great power and was not afraid to join the fight against the destroyers. The sharp political battle between E. Ligachev and B. Yeltsin became a memorable event of the perestroika period. Unfortunately, Ligachev's phrase "Boris, you are wrong!" became prophetic for the fate of the state, which was soon headed by Yeltsin. In his book, E.K.
