Their authors are contemporaries of the Decembrists: their comrades and relatives, acquaintances, political opponents, witnesses of events and direct participants. The memoirs capture the Decembrist era, the uprising of December 14, 1825 and the uprising of the Chernihiv regiment, the investigation of the Decembrist case, their trial and execution, the years of Decembrist hard labor and exile.
