This work is devoted to the evolution of Japanese classical painting and graphics. Identification of the main directions that determine the picture of the development of Japanese classical painting and graphics, determination of the nature and nature of the artistic ideals put forward by these directions, sometimes acting as a result of the complex interpenetration of religious and secular consciousness, identification of those widely popular sources that each time in the end were that force, which transformed and translated Japan's perception of elements of foreign culture into phenomena of national Japanese art - these are the main questions facing the author of this work.
