"The Newest Plutarch" is the fruit of the creative imagination of three prominent figures of Russian culture (historian L.L. Rakov, poet D.L. Andreev and biologist V.V. Parin), created by the authors in the postwar years in the Vladimir Central, where they ended up in the same cell as victims of Stalinist terror. The book is a witty and at the same time culturally significant hoax.
