"The book of my grandfather Korkut" ("Kitab-i deadem Korkut") is an outstanding monument of the medieval Oguz heroic epic. "Korkut's book" is of exceptional interest to the historian and ethnographer as a true, albeit epically heroized, depiction of the military and peaceful life of Turkic nomadic tribes, their life and social relations, folk customs and beliefs preserved in the era of feudalism.
