On the basis of rich source material with the involvement of the achievements of domestic and foreign historical science and the use of the latest methodological foundations, modern historians have created vivid, multifaceted portraits of I. Bogun, M. Krichevsky, M. Krivonos, D. Nechaya, P. Shumeyko, I. Franco. Sulfur, P. Doroshenko and other well-known, as well as little-known Cossack commanders for the general public, because of whose activities the harsh everyday life of military campaigns looms, the triumph of victories and the bitterness of defeats, panoramas of grandiose battles, complex processes of the then social and political life of Cossack Ukraine.
