The book is dedicated to Martin Luther, a German thinker and public figure, the head of the Reformation, the founder of German Lutheranism and one of the creators of the German literary language; next to it is the name of Jean Calvin, a figure in the Reformation, founder of Calvinism. The development of the spiritual culture of Europe of the XVI century took place in a close interweaving of secular and religious motifs. Therefore, the year 1517 is of great importance for the history of philosophy and culture, when on October 31 Martin Luther unveiled his famous 95 theses against papal indulgences on the porch of Wittenberg Cathedral.
