The proposed book contains monuments of apocryphal literature, united by the genre of revelation, or apocalypse. "The Revelation of St. John the Theologian," which completes the Christian Bible, has been attracting increased and understandable attention for two millennia - it will be all the more interesting for the reader to get acquainted with ancient texts created in line with the same tradition. Some of the published apocrypha arose earlier than the canonical "Apocalypse," in the Jewish environment, some later, until the 9th-10th centuries. according to P. X., their authors are already Christians. The opening article traces the history of the revelation genre, and consideration is not limited to the texts included in the collection; particular attention is paid to this genre in the Books of the Old and New Testaments. The commentary will allow the reader to assess the relationship between canonical and apocryphal interpretations of biblical events, to form a clearer idea of ​ ​ the theme of apocalyptic literature.
