The textbook describes the state of archiving in Europe and the USA at the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st centuries. The main trends in the development of archival services abroad are considered, taking into account political and economic transformations, the development of information technologies at the present stage. The issues of archive management, development of the network of archival institutions, acquisition and composition of the largest storage facilities, the main activities of archives of foreign countries are disclosed.
