Extensive source material, archival and published, characterizes the traditional culture of the Russian peasantry of the Urals of the 18th-19th centuries. The life support culture is covered in detail, including production traditions, settlements, residential and outbuildings, clothing, food. The daily life of a peasant family is investigated. The historical and geographical knowledge of the peasants, their political and legal ideas, medical experience, leisure culture, literacy are analyzed.
