The book is devoted to the history of the political elite of the Kingdom of Epirus, one of the three Greek states that fought for the restoration of the Byzantine Empire in 1205-1261. The system of distribution of power within the ruling Duk dynasty, the composition and functions of the emperor's close associates are investigated, the importance of family and friendly ties as factors consolidation of the aristocracy and clergy. Special attention is paid to the formation of the ideology of the Epirus kingdom and its reception by representatives of the political elite.
