The book is the first synchronous description of the Pali language using structural methods, as a result of which the definition of a number of word classes differs markedly from the traditional one. Grammatical categories of a name, pronoun, verb are considered at the formal and semantic levels in their relationship. What is new is the description of the Pali syntax using elementary syntactic constructions and the rules for constructing sentences from them.
