Alexander Ivanovich Levitov (1835-1877) is one of the prominent representatives of the galaxy of Democratic writers. Having entered the literary road in the early 60s of the last century, he reflected in his work the essential features of the literary movement of his time; his works are full of anxious reflections on the processes of the post-reform development of Russia, the search for ways of practical activity for the advanced diverse intelligentsia, they deeply depict the life of the people.
