Two volumes prepared for the best translation, which was published in St. Petersburg in 1893. The narrative style of the author, an internationally recognized classic of naturalistic literature, has been preserved. For the first time in a modern domestic publication, illustrations created by German artists and engravers in the 19th century specifically for A. Brem's books were reproduced in full.
