The book of Miroslav Shkandriy is one of the first attempts to look at Ukrainian-Russian cultural relations through the prism of postcolonial theories. This view illuminates several interesting and important aspects in the history of both cultures, allows a completely new interpretation of a number of classical texts, the role and significance of many key figures introduced into the literary canon.
