The book summarizes new data on a little-known element of the cultural and natural heritage of Moscow - historical landscapes of ancient Russian times (XI-XIII centuries), studied in archaeological and paleogeographic plans. Such Moscow parks as Tsaritsyno and Losiny Ostrov, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, and the forest park belt of the capital appear thanks to this study with a diverse mosaic of landscapes that contain traces of human activity of the last two millennia. Microregional studies paint a picture of rural resettlement, strategies for agricultural and commercial development of various landscapes: moraine hills south of the city, the Meshchera lowland east of it, the floodplain of the Moskva River and the Yauz waterway. The appearance of the river valley is being reconstructed. Neglinnaya near the Kremlin in the KhP-KhS centuries, where rural settlements were adjacent to the Moscow posad. Maps and catalogs are published, including data on 300 archeological monuments of Moscow of the early Iron Age and the 9th-13th centuries, a map-reconstruction of the natural landscapes of Moscow, as well as plans for ancient settlements and archaeological finds.
