On January 25, 2018, 37-year-old Frenchwoman Elizabeth Revol climbed Mount Nangaparbat in Pakistan and entered the history of mountaineering as the second woman who managed to make a winter ascent on an eight-thousander in the Himalayas. She climbed with her fellow Polish climber Tomasz Mackiewicz. Climbing 8,125 m high Nangaparbat in winter was her dream. But the euphoria of victory was short-lived. Having barely reached the top, the triumph turned into a nightmare: due to severe weather conditions and lack of oxygen equipment, Tomek received pulmonary edema, and Elizabeth Revol had to make the most difficult decision in her life: leave her comrade alone, but do everything in her power so that he could be taken and saved. This is an extremely frank diary of a brave climber who is ready to challenge the harsh Himalayan giant at any moment.
