Until recently, the name of Alexei Sergeyevich Suvorin (1834-1912), publisher and editor, was forgotten or deliberately hushed up. Meanwhile, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, his newspaper Novoye Vremya played, one might say, an outstanding role in the public life of Russia. Suvorin's journalistic articles reflected the daily life of the country. They were read by the emperor with state dignitaries, writers, and students, the widest segments of the population.
