The book has a difficult fate. It was created immediately after the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, when the word "special forces" itself was prohibited for mention in the open press. Fragments of the book, published in the domestic and foreign press, were used by the American and French military as a textbook on the psychology of military behavior in the combat conditions of the Middle East region. The book is published in full for the first time.
