World War II was the largest military conflict in human history. It was attended by 71 states with a population of 1.7 billion people. 110 million people were drafted into the armed forces of the warring parties. Military operations were conducted in the vastness of four oceans and on the territory of 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, on the territory of which more than 80% of the world's population lived.
