The proposed monograph tells about the history, development and modernity of a very ancient, extremely painstaking craft - Great Ustyug silver blackening - an elegant highlight of Russian decorative and applied art. Currently, only two centers of black art are known in Russia, one of them is Veliky Ustyug - an ancient northern city on the border of the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions.
