The main text of the Sonnets is given in a series in a facsimile reproduction of the 1826 edition and translated by V. Levik. In 1972, an academic collection of the poet's works was published in Poland. From it, the present book (section "Supplement") includes three sonnets that were not included in the 1826 edition. Russian translations (P.A. Vyazemsky, I.A. Dmitrieva and others) began to appear from 1827. Censorship sanctions related to the Polish uprising of 1830-1831 delayed their distribution. In 1857 the bans were lifted and many new translations appeared. The section "Additions" contains translations in the most typical and significant samples. The publication thus gives a broad picture of the life of A. Mickiewicz's Sonnets in Russian literature from 1826 to the present day.
