In these lines, Abai is the whole tragedy of a great poet and thinker who lived "in wolf time in a wolf pack." During the time of Abai, the Kazakh people reached the last degree of poverty and slavery. One of the most unfortunate peoples of the earth, whose name was even taken away, is that this people, having not yet thrown off the chains of feudal slavery, has already come under the cruel colonial press of Russian tsarism. With the gaze of a thinker and the heart of a poet, Abai saw and understood the disasters of his people - and until his last days remained his faithful friend and teacher. And until the last days he was gnawed by a wolf pack of bay feudal lords, biys, elders, rulers, mullahs, rich people, who sensed a friend of the people and their mortal enemy in Abai. Abai proved his selfless and effective love for the unfortunate people with his whole life. The malice with which Abai was persecuted all his life by the champions of the old order of things convincingly proves how high the feat of the citizen poet was his whole life devoted to the service of the people.
