Lecture delivered at the Siemens Foundation (Munich) in August 2012. Agamben contrasts another question, namely: "How can people give orders?" First of all, he notes the fact that in our culture any beginning - any Greek arche - is also a command, and, therefore, the foundation continues to return in the form of an imperative throughout the development of the phenomenon at the origins of which it stood. Further, relying on Aristotle's theory, he proves that the classical philosophical tradition excluded the analysis of propositions that cannot be called either true or false, also abolishing those that go back to the concepts of prayer, threat or order, and that since then theology has been mainly engaged in their analysis.
