The book of the largest Soviet folklorist V.Ya. Propp, published by the first edition in 1928 and repeatedly translated and reprinted abroad, is a classic study of the plot-compositional structure of a fairy tale. The article published in the appendix by E.M. Meletinsky "Structural-typological study of a folk tale" contains an overview and analysis of works on the structure of a fairy tale (and mythological) narrative over the past forty years.
