The political crisis in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), aggravated in the late 1980s and early 1990s, led to the collapse of the multinational state and the emergence of several armed conflicts. Central among them was the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), called the Bosnian War (1992-1995). In this former SFRY republic, three national communities that inhabited it clashed: Bosnian Muslims, Bosnian Croats and Bosnian Serbs, all of whom tried to defend their national interests with arms in hand. In the presented book, the author considers issues related to the emergence of regular armies of the modern type, when the state bodies themselves began to create structures of irregular troops that could fight on state borders with an enemy waging just such a permanent war on ethnic and religious grounds. The book is intended for those interested in the recent history of the Balkans.
