The monograph is the first interdisciplinary study of Russian hospitality and feasting as its main component, in its festive and everyday versions. The point of view of foreigners who willingly respond to the traditions of Russian hospitality is compared with its perception from within the tradition. The book restores the structure of the feast, taking into account its numerous options, determined by the nature of the holiday, and the cultural concepts underlying it - honor and glory. Key concepts such as appetite, satiety and hunger, moderation and gluttony allow us to reconstruct not only the perception of the body characteristic of traditional culture, but also the interaction of man and society, man and space.
