The Russian diaspora in Australia has always stood apart in relation to other emigrant settlements - due to the geographical location of the continent. But it is here that Russian culture is most fully preserved. How could Russian emigrants, despite the existing status of "Australia only for the Anglo-Saxons" and the policy of assimilation, carry their language and culture, remain Russian in spirit and not dissolve in the Australian environment? And yet now that multiculturalism is a core idea of Australian society, they continue to live as an integral part of local society.
