This work is the first, and in many respects still preliminary, attempt to give a summary of the ideas of a number of Greek and Roman authors in the field of geography. In this edition, introductory articles are sent to the texts of ancient authors, which give brief biographical information about these authors and their geographical views. Some of the works included in the book offered to the reader are translated into Russian for the first time, while some are given in translations that have appeared in the Soviet press in recent years; old translations checked.
