Theodor Wiesengrund-Adorno (1903-1969) - German philosopher, sociologist, musicologist, culturologist. He studied at the University of Vienna, studied musical composition with A. Berg, a student of A. Schönberg. Since 1931 he taught at Frankfurt University. In 1934 he emigrated to the UK, in 1938 - to the USA. An outstanding music critic sensitively listened to the formation of 20th century music, identified the ways of its development. The volume includes "Introduction to the Sociology of Music. Twelve theoretical lectures," "Anton von Webern," "Moments musicaux" (Musical moments), as well as articles by the first Russian researcher of Adorno's work, A.V. Mikhailov, who considered Adorno "a musical critic of extraordinary, grandiose proportions."
