The book is dedicated to the Gorky region (since 1990, the Nizhny Novgorod region). Basic information about nature, population, economy, how a person uses the natural wealth of the region is presented. It was written as a textbook on geography for secondary schools in the region (geography of the USSR, section "Own region"), at the beginning and end of each section there are control tasks for better assimilation of the material.
