This book is based on biographies of 55 naturalist scholars. These are ornithologists, zoologists, ecologists, conservationists who worked in the twentieth and, in part, in the 19th century. Most of them had to live during the reign of the fascist and communist regimes and meet in their work many obstacles generated by the socio-political situation of that era.
