American Orientalist M. J. S. Hodgson's study focuses on the Nizari history. In the medieval Muslim world, the Nizari - representatives of one of the directions of Shiite Islam - were a minority who decided on a radical confrontation with the majority. The scientist's goal was to find out the causes and origins of the conflict, where the struggle for power and the war of worldviews intertwined.
