The book tells about the little-known pages of the life of the outstanding Ukrainian film director A.P. Dovzhenko based on an analysis of declassified archival documents from the Civil War, the repressions of the thirties, the Holodomor and Stalin's disgrace from the Second World War. Documents of the Zaporozhets case form on Alexander Dovzhenko of the Branch State Archive of the Security Service occupy a prominent place in the study (GDA SB) of Ukraine, as well as transferred from the GDA SBU to the fund No. 1196 "Documents of literary and art workers from departmental archives of the prosecutor's office, court and bodies of the KGB of Ukraine" of the Central State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts (TsGAMLI) of Ukraine and to the fund No. 263 "Collection of extrajudicial cases of rehabilitated" of the Central State Archive of Public Associations (TsGAOO) of Ukraine
