Refusal books were compiled from the so-called refusals - documents in which the county authorities issued recusals, or refusals of land holdings to landowners for their sovereign service. On a par with refusals, we sometimes meet texts called separate ones. These are land documents in which the separation of any part of the possession to another local owner or widow of a serviceman "for a living" received registration. Since there are few such texts among those published and they are not much different from refusals, both of them are printed under the archival name of refusals.
