The collection is the next issue of the series "Memory of a Jewish Town," dedicated to the history and culture of Jews in various regions of Eastern Europe. The basis for the book was the materials collected during and in the wake of the 2014 expedition school in Lepel, Vitebsk Region of the Republic of Belarus, organized by the Center for Scientists and Teachers of Jewish Studies at Safer Universities and the Center for Slavic-Jewish Studies of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The task of the expedition was to reconstruct the "Jewish history" of the city of Lepel, as well as the neighboring towns of Chashniki and Ushachi, on the basis of oral evidence and historical documents.
