The strength of Menander talent was that he managed to cope with these difficulties and to a large extent overcome them. He managed to combine individual and typical in his characters. In almost every type, not counting its typicality, he managed to invest individuality and thus created a whole gallery of living people, alien to triviality and monotony. The names of many of his heroes were household names in ancient times (Smikrin, Harestrat, etc.).
