Grigory Ivanovich Grabyanka (? - c. 1738) - Cossack chronicler of the history of the Zaporizhzhya Army, an original political thinker. Grabyanka was the first to attempt a coherent presentation of the history of Ukraine from ancient times to 1709. The Chronicle begins with a discussion of the origin of the Cossacks, whom the author deduces from the Kozars, the "Scythian people"; then there is a summary of events before the uprising of B. Khmelnitsky and about the fight against the Poles; the story of the era of "ruins" after the death of B. Khmelnitsky, and since 1664 the presentation is conducted by year. The chronicle ends in 1708. The chronicle of Grabyanka is a valuable source on the history of the Hetman and Ukraine of the XVII-XVIII centuries.
