For student Denis Verbitsky, grandmother is the only native person. Trying to find money for her treatment, he becomes involved in the drug business and is forced to flee. He finds work next to the Zone, but the new boss learns about the criminal episode in his biography and begins to blackmail. In order not to go to prison, Denis must go to the Zone in search of the director's young son. The student agrees, keeping silent about the fact that he himself dreams of getting into the abnormal territory: there you can find a "doppel apple" - an expensive and rare artifact that can become a medicine for his grandmother. But he himself has no idea what price he will have to pay.
