"Phenomena" by Arat of Soli (c. 315-240 BC) is the most important example of "learned" poetry of the Hellenistic era. In European literature, Arat was the first who poetically purposefully and, not being a scientist, sufficiently fully systematized astronomical and meteorological observations of his time. The didactic features of the poem, which non-trivially reflected the scientific, poetic and philosophical overtones of the tradition preceding Arat and the predilection of the modern era, had a significant impact on the literary and philosophical thought of antiquity and the New Age. The translation of Arat's poem into Russian is made in compliance with the metric features of the original, equipped with an exegetical commentary and an introductory article. The publication is designed for everyone who is interested in ancient literature and culture.
