The epic "Siyazhar," created on the basis of Mordovian folk tales, songs, ballads of heroic content by the poet Vasily Radaev, is now known in our country and abroad. The main thing in Siyazhar is the idea of ​ ​ protecting the native land, the brotherhood of the Russian and Mordovian peoples, the struggle for the honor and dignity of man. One of the experts on the Finno-Ugric epic, professor at the University of Budapest Peter Domokos put the legend of the Mordovian folk hero Siyazhar and his comrades next to the famous Kalevala.
