The history of the organs of political investigation in the Yenisei province in the context of the all-Russian socio-political crisis that the Russian Empire experienced in the late XIX-early XX centuries was studied. Gendarme-search units are considered as part of the general system of the secret police of the monarchy, significant regional features inherent in the law enforcement agencies of Siberia and the Yenisei region are shown.
