During the Great Patriotic War, the Krasnogvardeisky fortified area near Leningrad put up stubborn resistance to the Nazi troops. Our units restrained the onslaught of the enemy and only after bypassing them from the flanks with heavy battles left their positions. The book, which is based on the memoirs of the participants in the war, tells about the heroic defense of Krasnogvardeisk (Gatchina) in August-September 1941, the struggle of the Gatchinians against the Nazis during the occupation, and the liberation of the city and region in January 1944.
