Compiled in the XII-XIII centuries, the collection of Welsh legends "Mabinogion" includes twelve stories. Some of them are based on rethought plots of ancient Celtic mythology and once served as a guide for young bards (according to scientists, the name of the collection comes from the Welsh mab - "young man"). The other part is influenced by European chivalric novels, which, in turn, were influenced by Celtic traditions about King Arthur and his knights, Tristan and Isolde, the Holy Grail. The stories of the collection are adjacent to the story of the adventures of the legendary bard Taliesin, who lived in the VI century. Although the "Mabinogion" was discovered by European culture only in the 19th century, it had a great influence on it, contributing to the development of the genres of fantasy and literary fairy tale. Colorful and deeply original legends "Mabinogion" are of interest not only for specialists, but also for a wide range of readers.
