In 1923, the newspaper was founded as an organ of the Moscow City Council. The first issue of "Evening Moscow" was published on December 6, 1923. The volume of publication was half the format of the newspaper Pravda. Boris Volin became the first editor-in-chief of Vechernyaya Moskvy, and Mikhail Koltsov became the deputy.
