The date of the end of the defense of Sevastopol is traditionally considered to be July 3, 1942, when the Sovinformburo reported that Soviet troops had left the city. However, working with documents led the author of this book to an unequivocal conclusion: Sevastopol fought for about two more weeks after the indicated date - at least until the second decade of July, when the last centers of organized defense were suppressed by the enemy. Soviet troops did not leave the city, they remained in Sevastopol. The report of the commander of the Sevastopol defensive region F. S. Oktyabrsky contains the words: "The remaining troops are very tired, trembled." But, as it turned out, this is not entirely true... This book is about those who did not "flinch." The book examines the period from June 28 to July 16, 1942, when the last battle of the Sevastopol defense took place. As a result of working with German archival documents, it was possible to find out where it occurred. Search work on the ground made it possible to identify its traces and tie them to modern landmarks.
