Electric drive is considered as information and energy system. Theoretical information on mechanical characteristics and control methods of the main types of electric motors is given. Mechanical part of power channel of electric drive, electromagnetic and electromechanical processes in electric drive, main thermal modes of operation of electric drives, similarity ratios in electric drives of different types are considered.
