General information about known software products used in the subject area, probabilistic-time characteristics of transmission based on continuous Markov models, the main results of the theory of mass service, the principles of creating simulation models based on discrete event modeling and the principles of topological network design are presented. Examples are given to demonstrate the possibilities of using the considered modeling methods.
