The publication for the first time publishes complexes of letters from a number of domestic archaeologists, with detailed comments. Chronologically, the articles included in the collection cover the period from the end of the 19th century to the 1930s. Among the authors of published letters and documents are well-known archaeologists V.A. Gorodtsov, V.V. Golmsten, A.A. Zakharov, I.I. Meshchaninov, and lesser-known workers of the scientific workshop - clerk of the Moscow Archaeological Society S.V. Chertorogova, Inspector of the People's Commissariat of Education P. Wendzyagolsky.
