French philosopher and scientist Blaise Pascal was one of the founders of mathematical analysis and probability theory, as well as a brilliant writer. Being a deeply religious person, Pascal had a sharp analytical mind, was a supporter of the current of Jansenism in Catholicism. Constant reflection on the problems of religion led him to create many fragments of the work, later called "Thoughts." This work became a classic of French literature. It represents deep philosophical reflections on the nature of the world, the place of God in human life, the meaning of being. The aphoristic style, brevity of definitions and clarity of presentation made this work world famous, and interest in it continues to this day.
